Evaluation 4

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

The audience feedback is very helpful and it truly helped me on how to improve my digipak and advert as well as my music video. The feedback given to us was from our class mates and our teachers and this was actually very helpful as the people in our class mate are actually the target age for our audience so therefore the feedback we received was actually from our target audience who we aim to sell our music video to.

The feedback we received were either positive and negative. The positive feedback helped us understand what we were doing well and what we should do more of if our audience enjoys it. The negative feedback helped us understand what we need to do or what we need to improve on, that way we can diversify our target audience even further and attract more consumers if a more variety of people will enjoy the content and the quality of my products.

The audience feedback also informed me that various types of people have various opinions doe to personal circumstances and that is why you cannot please every person that is your target audience but what I can do is make the audience more broader and attract various types of consumers.

Evaluation 3

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Evaluation 2

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Evaluation 1

How did you use media technologies in this construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

There was many types of media technologies which I used in order to produce my music video for this project. Technology helped me with the research, planning, construction and even the evaluation.

In the planning stage we had a drawn plan of how we wanted our music video to look like. With the aid of technology my group and I were able to turn our drawing into an animatic video showing what our music video will look like. This helped us analyse what shots go where with the song lyrics. I made the animatics by scanning our drawings into the iMac and then using the editing software Final Cut Pro X to make the drawings into an Animatic Video.

The internet and social media sites such as YouTube were used when I was researching music videos and music artists when my group and I were in the stage of choosing our song. I also used it to research digipaks of real artists in the same genre and this technology helped me create my digipak which I created on Adobe Photoshop which is an image manipulating software.

The construction stage of this project was where I used the most technology to accomplish the tasks in hand. Filming all the shots were done with DSLR Cameras and my Canon SX710 HS Camera. We gained various skills using different cameras and got to use various types of equipments as well to accomplish the shots we needed. We then used the SD cards to store the footage, transferred them to the iMacs and then edited them on Final Cut Pro X. Final Cut Pro allowed us to editing the colour, add transitions, cut the clips and add text onto the footage which helped us create the final music video we have. The use of the latest and top quality technology helped us produce a high quality video with high resolution and image quality.

For the evaluation stage I will be using technology as well such as Final Cut Editing Software, Prezi and a powerpoint presentation. This makes the evaluation more visually interesting as well as informative.

Final Music Video Fedback

This is the feedback my group and I received on our final music video. The music video has definitely  improved from the first draft but it look like it can still be improved for some people but as its a class feedback many people have different options and that why their feedback varies depending on their own personal views. However the feedback we receive is very useful and it helps us understand on the spots we can improve on and develop.

Final Video

This is our Final Music Video which is completed. I am really happy with these Final results however it can always be improved. Theres one small scene I feel needs improvement where the artist is leaning on the balcony outside and the lip sync looks out of place however it was actually perfect. The issue was the way our actor Jacob was singing the song, his lips move different and it looks like the sync is out of place.

I feel like the music video has turned out exactly like I wanted it to be like. As I was the director of this Music Video I had an image in my head at the start of how I wanted this music video to look like and even when we made the plans, there had to be a few changes done but the final result did turn out exactly how I wanted it to be.

Overall I am very pleased with this Music video and I don't think it needs many more improvements or developments.

Final Music Video Complete - Editing Process Blog 4

I have completed all the editing for this music video and my group and I are now fully happy with the music video. We feel that it has turns out exactly like we wanted it to from the plan we started at the beginning of the course with our drawings and ideas. We felt that what we imagined in this music video was exactly what we achieved and the final product was great.

I still feel it can be improved but we may not have enough time to improve it and we didn't really have a huge budget with high quality equipment.

The editing process was very interesting and it was very hard to get the video and the audio synchronisation on time without delays and to make the video also look very smooth, but after a long time of editing and testing with video filter and colour/saturation, we found the perfect look for our music video.

The obstacles we were confronted with in the course

While creating our music video like everyone we too were faced with obstacles and challenged to face in order for us to achieve our final product. These challenges and obstacles had to be faced and we either fixed the issue or we worked our way around them in order to get our final product.

One of the issues we had was the equipment we were provided with. Some of the facilities such as cameras and tripods were being used by other students and therefore to resolve this issue, I decided that I will use my camera and tripod to film our music video. The School camera were also appearing to be very shaky and therefore my Canon camera I had had auto-stabilsation which improved the video shakiness.

The other issue was the costume. The costume our artist Jacob was wearing was suiting more of a Grime genre and therefore to resolve this issue we had to rethink the costume and make it look more Hip Hop as Jacob was wearing Grime style clothing.

We also had the issue of lack of actors for the gang scene. We had to resolve this issue by replacing that whole scene into a night scene with the artist just on his own.

The narrative of the video was very unclear and the audience we showed it to didn't understand it. The artist was meant to show his life before and after. Before the artist was involved in gang life but now he tried to run away from that life and have money and fortune with his new hit song. To resolve this narrative issue we cut some scenes out and changed the narrative slightly into the artist showing his fame and fortune yet he still cannot get the girl he loves.

Filming the last scene - Production Blog 8

Today we reshot the final scene we needed which was officially where the artist was in the Chip shop but we changed it to outside on the street. We decided to reshoot the scene as it was shaky and the pan at the end was too early and cut too abruptly as well.

I didn't like the chip shop scene at all and therefore I wanted to film it elsewhere and without the gang being behind him. This shot is now finally done and all thats left to do is finishing the editing, change the brightness and colour and then syncing the music with the video.

My Final Digipak

Here is my final Digipak and Poster. This was redone and edited due to the feedback I received from my classmates and teachers. I am very pleased with my digipak and I feel it suits m genre, the artist and looks very good as well.

I decided to change the Behind The Scenes CD as the feedback I received on the first draft suggested I should change and develop that one, therefore Id decided to change the image and the colours.

I edited every image on this Digipak and the pictures were taken by me as well with my Canon SX710 HS camera. That way the Digipak turned out exactly how I planned and wanted it to be like.

The colour choices in this Digipak I decided to go for was Dark black and blue colours. I wanted my Digipak to represent the main song in the album Day 'N' Nite. The dark black colours represent the night and the blue represents the day in my digipak.

This is the Poster/Magazine Advert for the Album and I feel like this perfectly suits the artist and its genre. I really like this piece as it also has the record label logo trademarked all over the Digipak and the poster which shows the record label demands and the rights of the Album.

Our Response to the First Draft Feedback

As the main editor, director and cinematographer of the music video it was my responsibility to respond to the feedback we received and to improve and develop the music video. I decided on how we can reshoot the film, where we can reshoot and I discussed with Thomas how we can change the costumes worn by the artist to make him suit the genre even further. Before the artist looked like a Grime Artists instead of a Hip Hop artist so Thomas and I decided to make him wear jeans, designer shirts and shoes as well.

The opening scene also looked very grime so that is why I decided to reshoot the scene in Greenwich to make it look more like a sleek hip hop music video.

Now all thats left to do is to edit in the new shots and to respond to the feedback such as play with the lighting and colour as well fix the lip syncing.
