Genre Synthpop: Drake - Find Your Love

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xyv4Bjja8yc

The music video starts off with a short narrative scene where the artist Drake explain that this song is about a girl he met. It seems like he has to leave the girl but he wants to see her for one last time and ask her how she feels about him. The music video starts with shots of Drake speaking to a man and it cuts to various shots of this girl in a bikini which displays her in a sexual way and this supports Goodwins Theory of notions of looking and how women are presented. The song then starts and there are many cuts of various shots to synchronise well with the beat in the music. There are many jump cut shots showing Drake the artist which shows the record label demands and shots showing a party and a girl that Drake keeps looking at. Theres then various close up shots of Drakes face when he is singing the song showing the audience that this is his song. We then see shots of Drake in his studio singing which cuts to a shot of him going towards the girl and talking to her. We then see a close up of another guy who doesn't like that Drake is talking to the girl. All these shots relate to the narrative and lyrics of the song showing that Goodwin was right about links between visuals and lyrics in music videos and that there are also a narrative in them too. The song then suddenly cuts and shows a scene where the gang members are talking about Drake and they aren't very happy with him. The song then suddenly starts again with a shot of drake singing. This cut shows that the artist mainly cared about displaying the narrative in this music video compared to showing the actual song.

Some of the shots were filmed at a beach, a house and at a club. There were also many props and lighting effects used on the artist to show his face and props such as smoking and studio equipments. Drake talks about his strong love for this girl and that nothing will stop him, with those same lyrics you see the gang members walk up to Drake and are ready to stop his love, this again shows that this music video has a very strong narrative throughout it. The song then finishes and the music video now again turns into a narrative scene showing that Drake has been captured and the girl he loved killed him. The shots from the bullet then show the worlds "Find Your Love" flashing and appearing on the screen with synchronisation of the gun shots sound showing that this is the song name.

I don't really like this music video as I feel it mainly strongly concentrates on displaying a narrative and storyline behind this song which can be quite boring and annoying for the audience.
